Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov on Thursday said that the US inclusion of Jabhat al-Nusra group in its international terrorist groups list proves Washington's admission of the terrorist threats against Syria.
Gatilov added on his Twitter account that the inclusion of Jabhat al-Nusra in the US international terrorism list constitutes an admission of the danger of activating terrorist activity in Syria.
Vasyliev : Russian Government Continues the Policy of Supporting Peaceful Settlement to Crisis in Syria
Vice-Speaker of Russian State Duma, Vladimir Vasyliev, said the Russian government will continue the policy of supporting the peaceful settlement to the crisis in Syria.
Meeting a delegation from the British House of Commons headed by, Richard Ottaway, on Thursday in Moscow, Vasyliev added that the Russian position has always been transparent, clear and firm in this regard.
He pointed out that the majority in the Russian parliament support the Russian government's position and confirm the possibility of achieving the goals put forward regarding the Syrian issue.
Vasiliev said that Russia is following up with interest the supervision of the situation in Syria and the issue of deploying Patriot missiles on the Turkish borders with Syria.
Zasypkin: Russia Calls for Political Solution in Syria Based on Geneva Statement
Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin reiterated his country's stance calling for a political solution to the crisis in Syria through dialogue among all sides in Syria.
"The large part of the Syrian people, who are suffering daily from the danger of the armed terrorist groups want violence to be halted and support the political solution," Zasypkin said in an interview with Lebanese al-Manar TV Channel aired on Thursday.
He added that the political solution can be achieved through the acceptance of all sides of Geneva statement as it constitutes a compromise and provides for a transitional phase which should be unconditioned.
The Russian Ambassador criticized the Turkish government's effort to militarize the border with Syria through deploying Patriot missiles, asserting that the existence of the arms on the border is very dangerous.
On the military cooperation between Syria and Russia, Zasypkin said that the military contracts signed between his country and Syria are in line with the international law, asserting that Russia doesn’t violate the international treaties through the implementation of these contracts as they include defensive means.
